Lasius (Acanthomyops) and relatives needed
I am focusing on Lasius(Acanthomyops) and other socially parasitic
subgenera in the Lasiini, Lasius (Australius +Dendrolasius
+Cautolasius),
for my PhD project and am in need of specimens. I prefer specimens
in 95% or 100% alcohol; however, I am interested in looking at
all materials. In his revision of Lasius (Acanthomyops), Wing
(1968) suggested that future work focus on male genitalia so
nest series containing males are particularly valuable.
These mainly subterranean ants are often found under stones or
decaying logs/stumps in woods or field edges. Workers range from
brown-orange to yellow and 2.5
mm – 5 mm in total length.
