     Jo-anne sends us this nifty image of Acromyrmex harvesting an unknown species of mushroom.. It was taken last December in nothern Argentina. I was assting Ed LeBrun and David Holway in some research in some grazed paddocks near Resistencia along the Rio Parana. David and I were walking along and observed a large mushroom (Psilocybe sp) being harvested by Acromyrmex workers. I thankfully had my camera and took some photos, you can even see the flesh turning blue as the psychoactive chemical oxidises (psilocybin, I believe). I'd not heard about mushrooms being harvested by fungus culturing ants, let alone magic mushrooms... I hope this amuses you as it did us.
