Hi, I am Lloyd R. Davis, Jr.

     I started collecting ants in the early 90's mainly to fill in gaps in the areas of North Florida that Mark Deyrup couldn't easily visit. Mark introduced me to Stefan Cover. Collecting is a great way to learn a new group of insects. With Mark and Stefan and later Zach Prusak helping, I quickly became proficient enough to realize how difficult some groups are to identify. I now collect ants everywhere I go...that is everywhere I can get permits. Permits are difficult for me to obtain sometimes because I don't work at a museum. I am always interested in seeing species that are new to me and am willing to hunt for species that are of interest to people working on ants. I expect to retire in three years. Retirement to me means more time for ant collecting and birding.
